Summer at Last!!

The end of school for the kids and the start of warm weather here finally has kept me busy. I've been enjoying the sunshine and planting flower pots and flower and veggie gardens outside. My planting gives me one more place to play with color and texture.

I've also managed to start a few new projects, as well as finish at least one. I still need to take a pic of the finished one, my 4-patch trip! One of the new projects I started was all because of Twitter!! I kept seeing all the fun pics of the Farmer's Wife Quilt Along hosted by Amanda and Angela! Well I gave in and bought the book and have now started another new project! I'm loving it even though I'm a few weeks behind. Here are the few I've made sew far.

The other projects I've picked up are fast and fun!! I've been making some summer skirts. My favorite pattern for that right now is the Madeline by Patty Young. These last two I made up in some Tula Pink fabrics.

I've also added in one more project. I took the Garden Party Class at Stash and am loving the start on it so far. Was inspired by Bliss by Camille Roskelly.

Bliss

Finally getting back here to post pics of the quilts that I added borders to . . .

This one I actually got borders on and quilted, bound and washed!

I also got one of my new projects I started last week done, well at least the top is ready to quilt.

Last for today was quilting this top! Love how it turned out. Now I just need to get the binding on and wash it!

This week picked up 2 new projects!! Took a class with Eddie Walker and learned her 4-Patch Trip. I picked out this yummy stack of fabric . . .

. . . and started making these 4 patches!

This is how it looks so far, can't wait for class on Wednesday. Will start sewing rows together.

This was another variation of her pattern with using a black and white as a constant throughout. Was inspired to start another one so . . .

I started the process of picking out new fabrics again (my favorite part of quilting) and started with a Fresh Cottons jelly roll by Fig Tree.

Retreat!!

Last post I had just returned from my first quilt retreat. It was quite successful as I took many WIP and got 7 done. I came home with 3 that needed borders added and the rest ready for backings to be found and pieced and then on to quilting them.
Sew . . .
here they are.

I will add pics of the 3 I added borders to and the one that I've finished quilting and binding later this week after photos.

From top: Two+2 by Colleen Blackwood in Pure by Sweetwater, the next from a magazine can't find done in a collected variety of fishing fabrics for My Favorite Guy, Hip Baby done in all blues, there are two tops similar as they are for twin boys, another from magazine done in Bliss by Camille Roskelley, Box Lunch by Sweetwater in Giddy by Sandy Gervais (fun working with the twill tape), last and favorite of mine from these is Circles by Eddie Walker in Hideaway by Lauren and Jessi Jung (will look a little different in the next post as I found the extra block I was missing and took a row off the length and made one row wider instead)

Tally this week dropped off 7 quilt tops including 1 top quilted & bound, picked up 2 more on these later!!

Caught in A Bind!

Quilt from Modern Basics done in Gypsy by Felicity Miller

well here I go, my first blog post . . . Opened this blog account last fall and just haven't gotten around to using it. First too busy then went back and forth on reasons to blog and who would even want to read my blog (not the writer type). Have finally come to the conclusion to just do it for me. Kind of like a scrapbook/diary. Not sure if it will stop my from starting too many projects in a week but who knows!

This week I've been caught up in binding. Finished four quilts recently and it was time to get the binding on them. Did it all in assembly line, cut, piece, stitch. Sewing on binding with my dual feed on my BERNINA 830 and my 10D foot makes it go by quickly!! Then my favorite part of all quilt making, throw it in the washer and dryer and wait to see the crinkle reveal.
Got these done just in time as I went on my first quilting retreat this weekend, I got seven of my quilts in progress finished! More on this next time . . . .

Tally for the week - 4 quilts complete through binding, 4 quilt tops ready for backing to be pieced and 3 quilt tops ready for borders

pictured are: Tying the Knot in Breakfast at Tiffanys, Tossed 9-Patch in Fa La La La La, A Modern Log Cabin in Botany, quilt from the new book Modern Basics in Gypsy.
